I created this website after my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. During her chemotherapy, we created and compiled several recipes that would help alleviate her symptoms. Please visit my YouTube channel for videos and check out my written posts on this website for a hard copy of the recipes. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe!
General tips and suggestions:
- Try to have someone else cook for you so that you can preserve your appetite and strength.
- Opt for easy-to-swallow meals (liquids such as soups are great choices).
- Eat colder foods to help with sores and nausea.
- Foods high in fiber help fight constipation.
- Lightly salted liquids and foods help with mouth sores and combat diarrhea.
- Avoid following an weight-loss diets during treatment.. Food should be rich in calories for energy.
- Small meals help with appetite loss.
- Meals should be varied and freshly made.
- Soft and liquefied foods (soups, smoothies, etc.) help if you have an underproduction of saliva.
- In order for food to easily digested you should avoid fried, overly seasoned, and fatty foods as well as processed pre-packaged or processed products.
- Try to limit intake of sugar; it has proven that malignant tumors feed on sugars. However, you cannot entirely remove carbohydrates from your diet. This is because malignant structures may begin to withdraw energy from muscles and other tissue in your body.
- Consume enough liquids a day (no less than 2L) to lower the burden on your urinary system. Non-carbonated water is ideal, but you can also drink compotes, weak tea with milk, broth, etc.
- It is best to forget about alcohol altogether; why add more toxic substances into an already struggling system?
